Those Rebellious Romans

C.J Piatti is a graduate of Chemical Engineering Technology from Durham College. He lives in The Greater Toronto Area. He started out writing science fiction but finds he enjoys writing and reading fantasy more now.

The Wizards’ Roman Revolution It takes place around 60 AD when Nero is the Emperor of the Roman Empire. I chose this time frame as Nero was a particularly tyrannical emperor. In fact in the Roman Catholic religion he is considered to be the first anti-Christ. As opposed to the philosopher Nostradamus who considered Napoleon to be the first anti-Christ.

It is an alternative history where magic is more prominent in the Roman Empire. There actually were people practicing witchcraft in these times believe it or not. The title of my series is The Eternal city Chronicles and I plan for it to be a seven book series.

During the reign of the Emperor Nero, the Roman Empire is overtaken by Wizards. The Wizards elevate Rome’s artist’s status to appease and entertain themselves. At first the artists are overwhelmed by the lavish gifts bestowed upon them by the Wizards. That is until they find out what the Wizards are really up to.

An idealist playwright, Prelore, takes the initiative to lead a group of artists in revolution against the Wizards. The only way the artists can defeat the wizards is to learn to, use magic themselves.

The artists make it their life’s ambition to bring an end to the rigid class system. Intellect and creativity are used to overpower magic. The artists refuse to stop rebuilding Rome until things are right. Artists find themselves fighting against their bad sides and the wizards find themselves fighting against their good sides.

I offered my local library, The Oshawa Public Library, a free ebook copy of my book and they said they would like to purchase a print edition and asked me if I would like to do a book signing at the library. Nice to see them supporting local authors!
